God isn’t going to just fall into your lap. You have to seek Him in order to find Him.
There are so many things these days that are valuable to us. Family, friends, money, jobs. What are these things really and how does their importance compare to God’s? Why do we even seek out these things over and above seeking God? It’s because we are lazy. We think and feel that if we are good people and go to church, that everything is okay. It’s not though. If you want to buy your girlfriend an engagement ring but you don’t have the money for it, do you just sit around and wait for the money to fall into your lap? No! You go out and work for it. God isn’t going to just fall into your lap. He wants you to seek Him.
God has made us promises, promises that we will find Him; that we will be given life eternal with Him and they are all written in the Bible. If we ignore the Bible and the promises it holds then we are ignoring God. Think of His promises as gifts on Christmas morning. When you were a kid, did you sleep in and not worry about what presents were waiting for you under the tree? Not likely! You looked forward to those presents and that is how you should look for God. With eagerness, with earnest desire to find those promises and ultimately find God Himself.
Are you lazy when it comes to seeking God? Do you seek Him or forsake Him? Don’t be lazy. Open that Bible, attend church and growth groups/Bible studies, and live your life the way God wants you to live it. For Him and seeking Him always.
