Why are we fasting?
(1) Deepen our Churches Spiritual Maturity Level
Our Church has grown a lot in the last year or two.We’ve done, by the grace of God, an excellent job of reaching people who didn’t know Jesus! Lots of people LOVE God this year, who last year were not in Church at all. Praise the Lord. We want to now pray that everyone – our new family and old family – would deepen their maturity level. We don’t want to remain babies, Spiritually, but we want to grow deeply.
2 Corinthians 10:15-16
Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our sphere of activity among you will greatly expand, 16 so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you.
Ephesians 4:15
we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
2 Peter 3:17-18
be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!
(2) Continue to reach people who don’t know Jesus
We must never forget our Church’s goal, to reach the Spiritual Orphan – those who aren’t in a Church yet and bring them into our Healthy Christian Community.
Acts 1:8
you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth
2 Timothy 4:5
keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
1 Peter 3:15
in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
